Oat milk is by far the cheapest and easiest to make milk alternative on market. To me, it is the closest to the real milk feel there is. So here's an at home recipe you can do every Sunday with me!
If you know me then you know that I am terrible about writing exact recipes so I will give you the ratios and ingredients so you can make as much as you desire.
Ingredients:
1 cup of Rolled oats
3 cups of Water
Tools:
Blender
Cheese cloth
Bowls/Bottles
Optional:
1/2 tsp of Sugar
1/4 tsp of Salt
1/3 tsp of Vanilla Extract
Method:
1. Combine oats, water and optional flavoring ingredients into a blender on high for 1 minute.
2. Place cheese cloth over whatever container you want to strain the milk into.
3. Pour small amounts into the cloth and then squeeeeeezzeeeee out the milk.
(the oats that get strained out can be re-purposed for other recipes so don't throw it out!)
4. Store in refrigerator for up to 5 days.
This milk is great for cereal, lattes, baked goods and with cookies.
Tell me how it goes for you in the comments!
Note: it will settle and separate in fridge, this is normal. Just give the bottle a shaking and it'll mix back up. We did a 3:1 ratio of water to oats to make it creamier but you can also do 4:1 for easier straining.
