Busboys and Poets

Last week I had to go up to the DC area for a work trip. So I asked one of my favorite people (IG: @thesoulfulveganista) for some restaurant suggestions & this was one of her top picks! One of my college friends and I got to catch up over some good foo with good weather to sit outside. Clutch idea to sit outside because we got to see SOOOO many doggies. Also our waiter was PHENOMENAL. Anywho, let’s get into the food.

Here, they have a large variety of options that would satisfy even the luckiest of eaters. If I had a big group of friends I’d bring them here because I know they’d find something on the menu. Its not as overwhelming as a Cheesecake Factory menu (have you seen those omg) but I definitely got overwhelmed with choosing between alllll the vegan options.

I got the Crispy Vegan “Chicken” Sandwich

pea protein, shredded lettuce, tomato, serrano pepper, roasted garlic aioli, brioche bun

I got the Crispy Vegan “Chicken” Sandwich shown here with the regular fries. This is made with pea protein, lettuce, tomato, Serrano peppers, a creamy roasted garlic aioli on a brioche bun. Super filling but my stomach didn’t feel heavy after ya know? Would 5/5 eat again. The texture of the pea protein is easier to chew than real chicken but still gave me that feeling. Also this wasn’t greasy which Im always worried about when eating fried foods. Those friend could use some seasoning though.

My friend got the Tempeh Panini and sweet potato fries. He really liked it considering it was his first time trying tempeh like this! It came with vegan mayo, arugula, red peppers & onions on levain bread.

“I’d eat that tempeh anytime”- Ben 4/5 stars

Oreo Cheesecake because who skips dessert? We liked it but didn’t loveeee it because we think it needed to have the tartness that true cheesecake has. BUT nice to have been able to eat a cheesecake since I haven’t in a few years.

Im very happy with my experience at Busboys and Poets. It’s on my list to return again next time I’m in the area!
